QUIK is a new short film directed by skateboarding filmer Colin Kennedy featuring Quiksilver pro rider Austyn Gillette. Shot in Los Angeles, the video shows an idealistic day in the life of a skateboarder, cruising the streets (super fast) and effortlessly doing tricks which, in real life, must have taken quite a few attempts. The name QUIK not only references the speed of Gillette, but also the backers of the film - Quiksilver - without whom it would not have been possible. Watch above!

Skateboarder Aaron Homoki, who had a Thrasher cover not so long ago, has submitted a ridiculous 60-second clip as part of the X Games Real Street competition. Homoki filled the minute long video with an onslaught of huge tricks that have no doubt caused irreplaceable damage to his ankles. If you want to make it all worthwhile for him and get him that $50,000 prize, you can vote for him to win here.

This is the story of three adolescents, who made an unlikely discovery on the GDR’s crumbling tarmac: the skateboard. The board from America didn’t just become the fun epicenter of their last summers in East Germany, but also turned into a symbol for their autonomy in a decrepit “Regelstaat” that had lost touch with its citizens. A mix of staged scenes and archive footage allows us an unconventional look into the universe of the late GDR’s youth. The legend of East German skaters is the starting point for this unheard of story about fun, rebellion and the courage to be yourself.
