The Matter with Kids Today: Kids and Raised by Wolves

By Eric Margolis, Humanity & Society, Volume 20, Number 2, May 1996

You have seen their faces. In the core of every American city young kids wander the streets getting stoned, spare changing, fighting, scratching, and hanging out. They wear tribal badges: tattoos, camo clothes and skin heads, skateboards and phat pants

While I was in New York I went on various visits at artist studios just to hang out, touch base about projects and simply just talk about life. The first person that I went to see at his new studio was artist/actor Leo Fitzpatrick. We hung out in the backyard, shot the shit and listened to him talk with eager ears about how New York had changed since 911.  After, we hung out in his studio where we contemplated which art pieces he should put into our 01 group show that he is a part of in Vancouver at the Interurban on July 8th.  We ended up picking 3 witty minimal collages that currently was shown at his solo exhibition at the Half Gallery and a beautiful photograph of an old girlfriend glimmering in the sun. My friend Leonard Fong was kind enough take portraits and document the whole process.

We will keep you posted this week on the new artists we have added to the roster of our traveling exhibition that will have its final showing in Vancouver.

Check out the video that Leo is starring in for Nowness called ‘The Shoe’ written by André Saraiva and Olivier Zahm.
